NEWS IN THE POP MUSIC DEPARTMENT

sara

A Northern California girl, Sara Bareilles has garnered comparisons to Norah Jones and Fiona Apple. She released her first CD in 2004, but Love Song, featured as an iTunes free single of the week in June of 2007 and in a commercial for the online music service Rhapsody, catapulted her to stardom.  That single, Love Song, is available in intermediate and easy piano versions.

pop songs

Books 1 and 2 of My First Pop Songs are designed for those students who have had only a few weeks of study and consequently have limited skills in note-reading. Many of these pre-reading solos are in the Middle C Position with the melody divided between the hands. All of the pieces include a duet accompaniment part for parents or the teacher.  Including such titles as Wonka's Welcome Song and The Chicken Dance, these books are a fun way to get your child or student to play more!

Upcoming Concerts:

  • Teen siblings The Jonas Brothers visit Fiddler's Green on July 19 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Ever-popular singer/songwriter/guitarist James Taylor appears at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 6 and 7 at 8:00 p.m.
  • ABBA - The Concert (a tribute band) will have you dancing the night away at Red Rocks on July 25 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Pepsi Center will host Madonna on November 11 and 12 at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets sure to go quickly.

MEET DAVID BLOCK, VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR

David is one of our newest staff instructors.  Music is truly in his blood--both parents are college music professors, both siblings are professional musicians, and he is married to a professional violinist!  David has been playing violin for 27 years and has taught for 15 years.   He also plays in several area orchestras, including the Colorado Chamber Orchestra.  With a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Violin Performance,  David has been busy in other venues as well, such as the Breckenridge Music Festival, The Estes Park Rocky Ridge Arts Camp and the Festival dei Due Mondi in Italy.  In his "spare" time, he plans to climb 30 mountains this summer, after already conquering 6 in May.  If you are looking for a enthusiastic, full of energy violin instructor, please call The Music Box, or contact David directly at 216-798-2634 or cloveman@aol.com.  He currently accepts violin students from age 6 and up who wish to learn in the traditional style.
