The Music Box is open seven days a week for your convenience.
The Music Box will be closed May 30th & 31st in observance of Memorial Day.

Where are you located?
The Music Box is located at 5048 E. Hampden Ave in Denver, Colorado. Our store can be found ½ mile WEST of I-25 or ½ mile EAST of Colorado Blvd. on Hampden Avenue. We are located on the SOUTH side of Hampden in the Happy Canyon Shopping Center. Turn into the shopping center on the east side of the Burger King. Can I buy online?
You bet! Just e-mail us at info@djmusicbox.com. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
What should I bring if I want to rent an instrument from you?
We require the following information on our rental applications: two credit references (major credit cards or store credit cards are easiest), checking or savings account information, source of income, and contact information for a relative, close friend, or business associate NOT living with you. If two credit references are not available, a security deposit (fully refundable) or a co-signer (guarantor) who qualifies is also acceptable.
What is your lesson schedule?
Most of our staff teaches year round. The majority of lessons are taught from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays starting as early as 8:00 a.m. However, some of the group and private lessons for younger students as well as private lessons for adults and home-school students are available during the day. Most lessons are taught in our store, although a few instructors who live close to TMB teach in their homes.
Do you repair instruments?
We are able to do some minor repairs in our store including changing strings and replacing some instrument parts. For all other repairs, we contract with outside repair services for brass, woodwinds, orchestral strings, and fretted string instruments. We have used these companies for many years and guarantee the quality of their work.
Do you sell electric or bass guitars?
Our guitar inventory includes classical, acoustic, and acoustic/electric guitars. We do have a limited supply and do sell a few standard electric or bass guitars.
Do you buy used instruments?
TMB only accepts used instruments if they were originally purchased from our store, and then only for exchange on another instrument.
Do you sell keyboards/pianos?
We do not sell pianos or keyboards but offer print music for all your playing needs.
Do you repair music boxes?
We do not repair music boxes, but we may be able to refer you to someone that can. Please call us for repair information or referrals.
Can you special order tunes or change music box movements?
In a few select music boxes, tunes can be special ordered or changed. Please speak with our music box specialist for further details.
Do you sell listening CD’s?
TMB is a print music store. The CD’s we sell complement or accompany the sheet music we carry.
Do you carry DJ equipment or offer DJ services?
Despite our former name (D.J.'s Music Box), we do not offer any DJ services.
Do you buy records or used sheet music?
We do not purchase these items, but can refer you to locations in the area that do provide this service. Please call us for more information.
Do you have gift certificates?
TMB sells gift certificates in any denomination for all of your gift needs.
Can you ship an order to my house?
Absolutely! Simply call us, place your order, and have a payment method ready. Choose UPS or FedEx (packages can be tracked and insured), or USPS. There is a charge for our shipping service.
What payment methods do you accept?
We are happy to accept payments with cash, check, Visa, Discover, and Master Card.
What is your return policy?
Most purchases, excluding sale items, special orders, seasonal items and karaoke merchandise can be returned within 30 days for exchange or in-store credit as long as it is in new condition and in the original packaging.
Who is on your staff at The Music Box?
Each staff member at TMB is eager to help you find the music item you seek. We come from diverse backgrounds and actively participate in the local music community.
Steve and Jan Rose - Owners
Steve and Jan purchased D.J.’s Music Box on August 1, 2007. They moved their family to Denver from Green Bay, Wisconsin to assume ownership at that time and have been very busy learning the business and meeting and greeting customers ever since. Although the name is changing from D.J.s (since David and Jackie are gone)to simply The Music Box, most of the staff have remained and are dedicated to servicing your music needs as they have in the past. We are here for you, our customers, and we all must work together to keep this long time icon prospering in Denver.
Chris Rose - VP - Director of Operations - Chris manages and directs the store operations on a daily basis.
Julia Rose - VP - Director of Advertising - Julia has an advertising degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. She is in charge of all advertising and promotion for the store.
Betty- Print Music Buyer
Betty is responsible for processing special orders and for properly stocking the store with all forms of print music. Betty has a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Oberlin College & Conservatory and a Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. She has taught voice and piano for many years and now enjoys teaching practical theory and sight singing to youngsters and adults. Betty currently sings in the Littleton chorale and is their assistant director. Betty joined the TMB family in 1997.
Yvonne- Bookkeeper
Yvonne is responsible for the bookkeeping, accounts payable, and rental contracts at TMB. Along with her various administrative duties, she also provides excellent customer service for our phone customers as well as our customers in the store. Yvonne is also the supply manager for the store and is responsible for all mailings. Yvonne joined the TMB family in 1999.
Erin- Piano Print Manager
Erin is responsible for managing our large piano print department. She maintains all piano method books, classical and sacred folios, as well as solo, duet, and concerto selections. Erin is also responsible for organizing all teacher workshops, reading sessions, and special events for teachers. Erin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano from Lawrence University, is currently singing in the Colorado Women’s Chorale, performs regularly at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, and teaches private piano lessons on a part-time basis. Erin joined the TMB family in 1997.
Jennifer - Choral Specialist - Jennifer is in chargre of all choral orders and relationships. She recently took over this position and is gradually introducing herself to all of our choral customers. She performs regularly in Kantori and the Littleton Chorale choral groups. She holds a music degree and is very knowledgeable about all things musical.
Chet- Instrument/Accessories Specialist
Chet is responsible for running the instrument and accessories department at TMB, including all special orders in this area. He has music degrees from Macalister College and the University of Iowa (Phd.), plays the flute, and performs regularly in the Denver Area. Chet joined the TMB family in 1983.
Stefanie Kavas - Stef is the newest member of our team. She has a music degree from CSU and specializes in vocal music. She teaches voice and piano and has a special interest in opera. She will be traveling to Italy this summer to perform in a production of Mozart's The Magic Flute.
